The first thing to say is… our dogs ADORE him! Cole is reliable, caring, knowledgeable, fun, and always up for a good conversation. He has walked and cared for our two dogs since 2018, and quite honestly, loves them like his own. Trustworthy. Both my husband and I are completely comfortable with Cole having full access to our home. I would highly recommend working with Cole for dog training, dog walking services, or pet sitting services. Finding someone you trust with your dog(s) is not easy (and I am very selective). I was VERY fortunate that I found someone to walk, train, and dog sit. Having 2 mastiffs didn’t phase Cole at all.
Very quickly, he was able to build strong relationships with my dogs (to the degree that he became one of their favourite people). When I rescued a mastiff mix puppy, Cole was the one I had there from almost day one. Training me and Ryder was no easy task, but Cole delivered, and I am enjoying the benefits of that now.
I highly recommend working with Cole. His passion for dogs, depth of knowledge (training and care), his calm nature, and his dependability stand out to me most.

Cali

It’s hard for me to find the words to express how amazing Cole is but I’ll try! We were very hesitant to have someone else be responsible for our girl Cali because she’s very anxious and reactive and can be especially difficult on leash if she sees another dog – barking and lunging. But it didn’t take long for both Cali and I to trust Cole with her life. He quickly became one of her best friends and it has been so heartwarming to see the greetings he gets from her when he comes over. For an anxious dog who is scared of everything, this truly shows us how special their relationship is and how caring and skilled Cole is. Cole has spent about five years as part of our family (and I consider him family!). In this time we’ve been lucky to use him not just for walks and training but also for in-home sitting and overnight visits. His training expertise has also helped to keep Cali calmer and to reduce her reactivity overall when out on walks. There is really no one we trust more with our girl outside of immediate family and I cannot recommend his services enough!

Murphy and Riley

I have 2 ‘mutts’ and they are walked daily. Murphy is a husky/shepherd cross and has had a number of behaviour issues. We have had dogs before, but he was more than we could handle and asked Cole to help us train him. My husband is a big man, and this dog would pull him around the neighbourhood, didn’t listen, and was aggressive to other dogs on leash.
Today Murphy walks nice, even I can walk him without issue, he listens when called and is pleasure to be around. He still reacts to other dogs but one command and he behaves. It has been night and day with Cole’s help. We were late engaging Cole and had put up with a bad dog for 2 years. So Murphy was older yet Cole was able to work out all his kinks. Also we learned a ton, as a lot of the issues were us.
Riley, we got as a puppy and learning from our experience with Murphy, we engaged Cole right from the start. As she was trained from a pup her leash manners are stellar. Her issue is settling down when people arrive, and she was a ‘jumper.’ Jumping on people. Again, this was worked out with Cole’s training!
Cole’s methods are amazing and aligned with compassion and love for dogs. My dogs love him! I strongly recommend Cole for any dog training needs!

Charlie

We are writing this testimonial on behalf of Cole Saul-Milligan, our dog trainer.
My wife and I have had a wonderful experience working with Cole during the training sessions for our newly adopted 2-year-old Shih Tzu puppy, Charlie.
Charlie responded very well to Cole from the start and perks up when we tell him that, “Cole is coming”. Cole believes in “positive reinforcement” as his method of behavioural training. He displays tremendous patience working with Charlie and with us, answering all of our many questions. He reminds us that Charlie’s learning will take time and
consistent repetition for routines to be established.
His communication skills are excellent. Cole is a very good listener and clearly takes the time to be sure he understands the question or situation in order to provide the most appropriate response.
Cole shows adaptability to changing direction and trying new approaches. He
has a wealth of experience and repertoire of strategies. When he finds that his
first attempt does not have the desired result, he substitutes another strategy.
Cole is very sensitive to Charlie’s reactions to stimuli. He intuitively perceives
what is going on with him and is able to determine the root cause of Charlie’s
behaviours. In all that Cole does, with and for Charlie, his love for dogs is foremost. He genuinely cares and wants to help his clients have the best dog-owner experience possible.
We would highly recommend Cole Saul-Milligan to anyone who is looking for a
trainer for their dog. Charlie would certainly agree!

Hershey & Mocha

Cole was great with both Mocha and Hershey. Both dogs warmed up to Cole very fast as he was very playful and excited whenever he was with them. Cole also helped train Hershey who although very sweet was also a destructive dog. Cole helped give strategies to help guid her away from this behavior as well as working on overall obedience which helped Hershey channel her puppy energy in a less destructive way.
